Young Writers Publish

Young Writers Publish with OBOB Author Melissa Hart

Ages 12-18

Are you a powerful poet? A writer of rap songs? A spinner of stories? Join Oregon Battle of the Books author Melissa Hart (Avenging the Owl) for an six-week class in creative writing.

Through wordplay and games and art projects, we’ll learn how to create exciting characters and thrilling scenes. We’ll learn about the power of sensory details, and how to use all the tools available to creative writers—from metaphor and simile to alliteration to onomatopoeia—so that readers skip their chores and their math homework to get lost in the stories, songs, and poems you’ve created.

We’ll laugh. We’ll eat chocolate. We’ll write together. And we’ll submit our stories and poems to magazines that adore writing by kids!
