A recurring 4-week writing group to help you make real, steady progress on your writing
You want to write. You mean to write. But somehow, another week slips by …
The project is still sitting there. The half-finished story. The draft you know needs revision. The submissions you do really want to send in.
You’re not alone. Writing is hard, even when it’s something you love. Life gets busy. Motivation wobbles. The couch, or the cleaning, or something else, inevitably wins.
Maybe you’ve tried setting up writing sessions–a standing calendar appointment, a coffee shop ritual. And it works. For a while. Until something comes along and interrupts it, and you realize yet more time has passed without you making the progress you want.
The hardest part of writing isn’t the writing itself. It’s sitting your butt in the chair week after week, knowing what to focus on, and needing support when you’ve hit a wall.
You don’t need more willpower. You need structure, support, accountability, and maybe a bit of writing therapy.
Write Your Way Forward gives you these things.
It’s a recurring four-week group that meets each week–in-person at the cozy Wordcrafters studio, online via Zoom, or whichever works for you that particular week. It’s not a class in the usual sense, or a drop-in session, but rather a committed container with the same writers, rhythm, and a guide who knows your project.
You’ll start each session by setting a specific, doable goal for your writing time, get some focused work time into your week, then set a goal for the week ahead. Month over month, those small intentional stack into real momentum you can see.
And if you hit a wall–a plot tangle, a revision spiral, a “I don’t even know where to start” kind of week–you can sign up for a one-on-one coaching convo during the focus time. You’ll get fifteen minutes with an experienced writer who can help you get to the root of what’s in the way: the structure, the logistics, the doubt, the issues you can’t often bring to the other people in your life.
How It Works
Each week, we’ll meet–in person at the Wordcrafters studio or on Zoom. However you show up, our time together follows the same gentle, motivating rhythm:
- Check in: A gentle start to share what’s blooming and what’s feeling sticky in your writing life
- Goal setting: Set a doable intention for the session, and revisit your goals for the month
- Focus Time: Write in companionable quiet for about an hour, fueled by chocolate of course
- 1:1 craft consults: Sign up to meet with Jeaux or Daryll Lynne during work time for a 15-minute coaching session to talk through what’s got you stuck. Whatever it is, you don’t have to figure it out alone
- Celebration: Regroup to share what you accomplished (or at attempted!), get a gold star, and set goals for the week ahead
Small group, sweet vibes, structured flow. A space to show up, tune in, and write your way forward.
What you’ll get
- A weekly goal-setting practice that turns vague intentions into focused writing sessions
- A month-long accountability arc that makes it harder to lose the thread between weeks
- One-on-one craft coaching that gets to the root of what’s really keeping you stuck
- A community of writers who know your project and show up for the same challenges you do
- Real support for the full range of writing obstacles: revision paralysis, querying anxiety, structural snags, creative drought, or just needing someone to say “how you’re feeling is normal”
- The kind of momentum that builds on itself—session by session, week by week
- Confidence from showing up for your writing life, community from the people in the (virtual or actual) room, and chocolate—because we’re Wordcrafters
This group is for you if…
- You’re working on a writing project of some kind—any genre, any stage
- You keep starting strong and then losing momentum
- You work better when you’ve told someone what you’re going to do (and they’re going to ask about it next week)
- You want quiet writing time AND a community that actually knows what you’re working on
- You’ve hit a wall—structural, motivational, or logistical—and you want real help working through it
- You’re ready to show up for your writing, week after week, with people who’ll show up alongside you
Your Guides
Your Write Your Way Forward host rotates each month, to give you opportunities to receive advice and help from the Wordcrafters staff.
Jeaux Bartlett (they/them) has been guiding writers through the wilds of creative work for more than two decades. They write cross-genre work exploring nature, healing, and the body—and they bring not just craft knowledge to their teaching, but genuine, attentive care. The kind that helps you figure out what you actually need, not just what you think you need.
Daryll Lynne Evans (she/her) has been at Wordcrafters since the very first event in 2013—which means she’s witnessed nearly every version of a writing life, and she’s genuinely hard to surprise. A playwright first, she’s since turned to fiction and screenwriting, holds an MFA in fiction from Purdue University where she taught and served as Assistant Director of Creative Writing, and has presented workshops at the Willamette Writers, South Coast Writers, and Wordcrafters conferences. Her truest reading heart belongs to Sci-Fi Fantasy—specifically the giant door-stopper tomes.
