A submission support group for writers
Overcome your fear of rejection and get your writing out into the world in this supportive, community-focused submission session–available in-person and online.
For many writers, writing the words and massaging them into shape through editing and revision is the fun part. But actually sending them out into the world to face likely rejection? Nope! That’s a bar far too high to leap.
But if you don’t, how will readers get to read your work?
If your favorite authors didn’t do their research, take a deep breath, and take the risk, how would their words ever have made their way to your eyeballs, brain, and heart?
Sending your work out on submission–whether it’s a short story, poem, book query, essay, or fellowship application–is scary. It can be hard. But we can do hard things together.
What you’ll get from coming to Submit Your Sh*t!
- Camaraderie and community around doing something hard that the nonwriters in your life likely don’t understand
- A giant pile of wonderful rejections and folks to celebrate them with! (Because rejections mean you’re getting your writing out into the world, and if you do it enough, you’ll get acceptances)
- Condolence/celebration chocolate
It’s easy to get discouraged going it alone. Wading through potential places to submit your work can be confusing and overwhelming to the point of paralysis.
But when you commit to sending your work out, on a specific date and time, in the company of others who care, who get it, and who want you to be successful, it makes it so much easier.
Join your local troupe of rejectees every other month on the second Saturday for a couple of hours to send stories, essays, poems, grants, love letters, whatever you’re working on, to publications, contests, agents, and the folks who seem to hold the power of your literary future in their hands.
What you can expect at Submit Your Sh*t!
- Gather with fellow writers–either in person or online
- Learn about the submission process–how to find places to submit to, how to track your submissions, and how to conquer your fears
- Share resources among participants
- Set your submission goals for the session
- Submit your writing!
- Eat some chocolate to celebrate
- Check-in with your fellow word nerds about how it went
As a writer, you know you have to face rejection to find success (whatever that means to you). Let’s do it together. When we get to 100 cumulative rejections, we can even have a party!
Stay the course of your writing life. Don’t quit. Submit your sh*t!

Daryll Lynne Evans (she/her) began her writing career as a playwright with the Performing Arts Conservatory in Colorado, but has since turned to fiction and screenwriting. She has an MFA in fiction from Purdue University, and can happily dive deep into literary fiction, but her true heart is in Sci-Fi Fantasy stories, especially the giant door-stopper tomes. She has presented workshops for the Willamette Writers Conference, The South Coast Writers Conference, and Wordcrafters Conference. She teaches writing workshops for adults and teens.

Jeaux Bartlett (they/them or xe/xem) is a writer and teacher living in Eugene, Oregon. Jeaux has published several books and online courses focused on personal growth, and their work has appeared in the Register Guard, Lane Monthly, Rochester insider, and Nature’s Wisdom, among other publications.
Jeaux is a certified Grief Recovery Method specialist, a National Spiritualist Teacher, and a Reiki Master Teacher. Jeaux enjoys writing about overcoming loss and adversity, and learning to trust yourself again.
Jeaux is currently working on Unintentional Community, their third autofiction novel. They’re a genre-bending writer whose work explores nature, healing, and the body, and they believe, deeply, in the power of story to transform and connect.
When they are not writing, Jeaux enjoys playing with natural dyes, knitting, and building a writing camp in the woods.
