What makes writing funny?

At our September Write Club, you’ll learn how to identify and break down humor in writing. And then learn to create it yourself.

In this two-hour class, you’ll practice the art of humorous juxtaposition–putting unlike words together–to create funny lists, and you’ll learn how to use the element of surprise to tickle your reader’s sense of humor. Plus, you’ll soak up the techniques stand-up comedians use to make their audiences howl with laughter.

Come and play with words! You’ll exercise your wit, make others laugh, and have an entertaining time yourself.

What is Write Club? Write Club is a monthly workshop that runs during the school year and is offered to youth 9 and up. These workshops offer the opportunity for young writers to explore various genres and topics in writing with local teaching artists throughout the year. Check out all the upcoming workshops here.
