Unveil your inner songwriter
You’ve felt the magic of a great song–the kind that resonates within you. But how do you write one?
- How is song writing different from writing poems or stories or nonfiction?
- Does the process differ based on the genre of music?
- How do you leave space for what the music brings to the listener?
We’re opening up our popular youth Write Club series for adults: (Because grown ups need clubs and fun too!)
Join Eugene-based songwriter m5 Vibe to learn the basics of composing your own songs.
What’s in store
In this hands-on session, you’ll learn about:
- The structure or architecture of a song
- Rhythmic concepts like counting bars and feeling bars
- The power and significance of the chorus
- Enhancing lyrics with description writing and imaginative flair
- Traditional and nontraditional song structures
Creativity and artistry know no boundaries, yet it’s vital to understand foundational principles and your listeners’ expectations. It gives you the liberty to innovate intentionally. You’ve got to know the rules to break them well.
Harness your intuitive power, learn to follow your gut feelings, and learn to write songs that resonate in this upbeat two-hour class.
