Horror is a broad genre—from serial killers to fantastical worlds. In this workshop, you’ll learn techniques to instill fear and suspense in your work.
You’ll also gain insight into how to create a unique story featuring equally unique characters with vibrant personalities. We’ll talk about marginalized and underrepresented communities and what it looks like to responsibly write outside of your own experiences.
Through short lecture, discussion, and writing exercises, this workshop will give you the tools to write fresh stories that the horror readers are desperate for.
What is Write Club? Write Club is a monthly workshop that runs during the school year for youth age 9 and up. These workshops offer the opportunity for young writers to explore various genres and topics in writing, create community, and share their stories.

About the Instructor
Elle Mitchell (she/her) is a multidisciplinaryartist and author of dark fiction, crip fic, and essays. She spends her downtime fighting for disability rights, researching, gaming, and eating more than her share of homemade baked goods (when her body allows). Being a woman with several invisible illnesses, she enjoys living a semi-horizontal life with her husband and spoiled furbutts in the PNW.
