Do you have a story to contribute to the world? Do you want to be a deeper, faster, better writer? Do you want to write stories that readers can’t put down?
You have taken the Fiction Fluency seminars and found the power they support in your work, but you need more time with the concepts. Ideally, you’d like a place where you can practice with some oversight to help you avoid the inevitable mistakes and the time they consume. Oh, and you’d like it to be a lot of fun.
Here’s the answer. This week-long retreat in Newport, Oregon, will include like-minded souls engaged in daily writing sessions, analysis of works in progress, and time for exploration and reflection. Eric will be on-site, available, and guiding the efforts.
The days will be broken into four periods:
- Creative time to work on your projects,
- Reading time for reviewing works brought to the retreat,
- Guided group analysis time to support growth in understanding of deconstruction and reconstruction of works in progress,
- and free time for exploration, open discussion, or napping.
Come and have fun achieving Fiction Fluency!
The Fiction Fluency Coastal Retreat will be held in Newport on the Oregon coast (90 miles from Eugene). Attendance is limited to 10 participants, plus instructor and host.
Accommodations are in three private rental homes next door to each other. (Check them out here.) The homes are across from the Newport Performing Arts Center one block from the beach. The homes feature full kitchens, 2 full baths in each, hot tubs, and with linens and towels provided. Each person will have a private room.
Just bring your toiletries, writing materials, and your own meals, drinks, and snacks.
Tuition includes all instruction and sleeping accommodations.
PLEASE NOTE: meals are not provided. The homes are equipped with full kitchens to bring your own meals. Several local restaurants are nearby. Breakfast and lunch will be on your own (though we will all eat together). Most folks participate in the volunteer-coordinated potlucks for evening meals, and we may head out to restaurants a few evenings.
Friday evening meal arrangements will be discussed before the retreat starts. Options include pot luck, bringing your own meal, or going to a local restaurant.
Please note: pets are not allowed (Service animals, of course, are welcome).
